“Faces in the Mirror,” a new independent film produced by Boyd Tinsley, made its New York debut Monday night.
About 75 fans attended the “Faces in the Mirror” premiere at the Varick Room, according to Rolling Stone. The movie, which Boyd described as a “modern-day silent picture,” tells the story of a man attending his estranged father’s funeral. It did not have a script, and it features music performed by Boyd, Dave Matthews, Stefan Lessard, Tim Reynolds and others. (Part of the score appears to feature a new version of “Litho Blitho,” a Dave solo instrumental from 2003, which is based on the outro to the Dave Matthews Band song “Mother Father.”)
DMB also screened the movie for a small group of fans at the DMB Caravan at the Gorge last summer. The public “Faces in the Mirror” premiere will take place Aug. 30 on the website of SnagFilms, a distributor that bought the film’s rights in March.
At the New York “Faces in the Mirror” premiere, Alberta Cross performed, with Boyd performing on the songs “Crate of Gold,” “Low Man,” “ATX” and “Thief and the Heartbreaker,” which also featured Rashawn Ross, according to Jambands.com. Here’s video of the “Thief and the Heartbreaker” performance:
